Stitch :: Service Blueprint

My first service blueprint created for Stitch, for my principles and practices of service design class.

Unlike traditional blueprints, I thought it was important to make a blueprint/journey map hybrid to note causal relationships in pleasure or pain points, in order to show a holistic view of the service. In addition, after analyzing with other graduate students, areas of potential opportunity were noted.

Customer journey maps done for Principles and Practices of Service Design.

The Limited journey features me as the customer, with Lauren Peters documenting via camera. While the custom tailor shop, Stitch, features a bride who was kind enough to let me follow her and interview her during her experience.

The idea is to compare the experience of shopping standard retail, versus a completely custom service and how the two differ in tone, process, and ambiance.

Blueberry Cheesecake Pancakes

I have been vegetarian for about seven years now. So, about ten months ago, I finally made the transition to being fully vegan. I thought it might be beneficial for others (and myself) to start sharing some of my favorite recipes that I found or created.

I made these cheesecake pancakes while my mom was visiting over the weekend and they were delicious! Definitely add the “optional” truvia. I found the recipe and photo here. Be sure to follow the link on that entry for the blueberry pancakes, too!

This is the sweet little foster puppy I had for a month. Her and her siblings were too young to adopt out, so she found a temporary home with me and my boys. I took her back last week for her spaying and shots, so that she could go to her forever home. More pictures after the jump.

sun prints

I remember doing these as a kid, so I couldn’t help picking up a pack of paper when I stumbled upon them at the arts&crafts store.

Super simple to do, just arrange objects on the paper, set in the sun for one to five minutes, rinse.

I’ll have to look around for some cool ideas to use these for.

End of Summer Sun Tea

If you haven’t noticed, the weather has already started getting cooler here in Florida; I certainly have by the shrinking sweat stains on my walking commute to work. To celebrate the closing of another miserably hot summer, I made some mint (sun) tea.My recipe called for:

Loose green tea
Mint leaves
Milk
Honey

How-to:

Fill a sanitized jar with water
Add loose tea and mint leaves
Place in direct sunlight for 3+ hours (taste periodically to tell when it’s done)
Strain tea & mint leaves
Add milk and honey, stir
Pour over ice

I never claimed to be cool.

I know I’m a giant nerd and I’m not ashamed to admit it! Some flowers I’ve been pressing for a few weeks. I got this old frame at a thrift store that I mounted them in. Lemme get your grandma’s number.

If you’re interested in pressing your own flowers, you can invest in a flower press, or try my jew method that works just as well:

Sandwich flowers between several layers of paper towels on both sides
Insert in the middle of a large text book (more room for more flowers!)
Stack several more heavy books on top
Let sit (smaller flowers can dry within three days, while larger flowers like the yellow ones may take up to three weeks just keep checking to make sure all the moisture is gone)
Use tweezers to handle dry flowers
Use Elmers glue to adhere dry flowers to the surface of your choice
